At this point everyone is more or less aware how Simon & Garfunkel have the unique capability to transpire profound emotion through their songs. Their work had showcased for decades what many people call 'good music'. They certainly brought moments of many joys to millions of people around the world. A wonderful career composed of great music.

I was always very much attracted to what people categorize as 'sad songs'. Since I was a kid listening to the american folk classics, there was this search for the plenitude and quietness these songs brought me. It didn't have to do with misery as people like to put it but more like intimacy. I suppose that's why people used 'sad songs' with a bad connotation. Intimacy may be terrifying, in despite of our constant longing of it.
These songs were a doorway to the rejoicing of togetherness, of the great human family - as many songs sang the resolution of the burdens and hardships of the human soul.
